Clear, fair policies for managing your reservation
At Grand Atacama Resort & Casino, we understand that travel plans can change. We have designed our cancellation policy to be as flexible as possible while ensuring the sustainability of our operations. We encourage guests to review these terms carefully at the time of booking.
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected]. Cancellations are effective from the date the written request is received and acknowledged by our reservations team.
The following cancellation charges apply to standard room reservations:
| Notice Period Before Arrival | Cancellation Charge | Amount Refunded |
|---|---|---|
| More than 14 days | No charge | 100% of amount paid |
| 7 to 14 days | 50% of total stay value | 50% of amount paid |
| 3 to 6 days | 75% of total stay value | 25% of amount paid |
| Less than 72 hours | 100% of total stay value | No refund |
| No-show | 100% of total stay value | No refund |
Atacama Villa and Sky Penthouse reservations are subject to a more restrictive cancellation policy due to their exclusive nature and high demand:
| Notice Period Before Arrival | Cancellation Charge | Amount Refunded |
|---|---|---|
| More than 30 days | No charge | 100% of amount paid |
| 14 to 30 days | 30% of total stay value | 70% of amount paid |
| 7 to 13 days | 60% of total stay value | 40% of amount paid |
| Less than 7 days | 100% of total stay value | No refund |
Reservations made for Chilean national holidays, the Atacama Desert Festival (February), Easter, Christmas (December 24–26), and New Year's (December 31 – January 2) are non-refundable under all circumstances. Guests are strongly advised to purchase comprehensive travel insurance for peak season bookings.
Guests may request to modify their reservation (change of dates, room type, or number of guests) subject to the following conditions:
In the event a guest departs before their confirmed check-out date, the Resort reserves the right to charge for all originally reserved nights. We recommend guests contact our concierge team as early as possible if a change of plans is anticipated, so we may do our best to accommodate any amendment.
In cases of documented extraordinary circumstances beyond the guest's control — including serious medical emergencies (with medical certification), death of a close family member, or governmental travel restrictions specifically affecting travel to San Pedro de Atacama — the Resort will review cancellation charges on a case-by-case basis. Documentation must be provided within 7 days of the cancellation request.
Natural events affecting the Resort itself (volcanic activity, extreme weather, geological events) will result in full refunds or complimentary rescheduling of stays.
Approved refunds are processed within:
Refunds are issued in the original currency of payment. The Resort does not accept responsibility for exchange rate differences at the time of refund versus the time of original payment.
Pre-booked spa treatments, restaurant reservations, and desert expedition packages are subject to separate cancellation terms communicated at the time of booking. Generally, these require 48 hours' notice for cancellation without charge.
To cancel or modify your reservation, please contact our reservations team:
Please retain written confirmation of any cancellation or modification for your records. We recommend cancelling well in advance of the deadline to allow time for processing.
We strongly recommend that all guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes trip cancellation and curtailment cover. Grand Atacama Resort & Casino is not liable for any losses arising from events covered under a standard travel insurance policy.
